Consumers quickly learn the importance of credit reports and scores in their financial world. In this lesson plan participants will study positive and negative credit scores and how they can affect their finances. While participants give advice to Isabella Langley and her credit mishaps they are able to apply the lessons learned to their personal life.

In HSFPP Lesson 2-4, students learn about the rights and responsibilities of borrowers and lenders. Along the way they explain their legal rights and responsibilities when agreeing to a contract, recite guidelines for borrowing limits, and state where to get help with credit issues. Students use what they learn to write a code of conduct for borrowing. (45-90 minutes)

In HSFPP Lesson 2-1, students weigh the benefits and risks of borrowing. Along the way they discuss why people borrow, give examples of acceptable and unacceptable situations to use credi, and explain how borrowing impacts spending power. Students use what they learn to recognize situations when it makes sense to either use credit or avoid using credit. (introduction to credit, 45-90 minutes)

Along the way they discuss what influences spending decisions, identify tools and strategies to help better manage spending habits, and demonstrate how the criterion-based decision-making process works. Digital Citizenship is an introductory lesson designed to be taught in one class period or in a workshop setting. Participants will create a Foldable to learn about the vocabulary, watch videos on Digital Citizenship, complete a task according to a scenario and do a post-it-note review.
